NOTORIOUS

Notorious. The highly-anticipated biopic of, arguably, one of biggest legends in hip-hop music to date. Sean "Puffy" Combs was the executive producer of this movie.

First off, I have always been fond of the Notorious B.I.G., so I was looking forward to this movie for some time. Overall, I liked the movie....A lot. But, I will also say that this movie had it's fair share of corny moments. Every scene that Combs was in, was absolutely the gayest (matt won't agree with me on this one, i know). Phrases like "If you make it, we all make it" and all that shit really made parts of the movie seem stupid. Not to mention, the scene where Biggie battles that one dude and everyone is dancing around and there's a DJ and shit....that does not happen in real life. Unless that's some weird black thing or something that i don't know about.

The Film focused more on the life of Christopher Wallace, rather than the actual career of Biggie Smalls, which is expected. I didn't expect to watch 50 of his live shows replayed by some other black dude that just looks like him. The thing I liked most about this movie was that it didn't lie to try to make Big look like he was some sort of saint. The dude knocked some girl up, started fucking Lil' Kim, then married Faith Evans while he was still fucking Lil' Kim....that's player. The movie didn't keep any of that in the closet. In fact, most of the movie was based around these affairs.

Parts of this movie gave me goosebumps. For example, the scene where Big battles that one homo for the first time and puts him to shame (minus the aforementioned part where everyone is dancing and high-fiving and shit) or when he's playing Cali in the midst of the whole Eastcoast-Wescoast beef and he says "Yo fuck it...play that shit!" and he does "Who shot you." Damn....those parts had a dude wishin' he was black and all'at!

Anyways, I'm gonna have to give this movie an 8.5 .

I'd also like to recommend all to see it.

HOW WE ROLL

This blog is going to consist of movie review done by Matt Bailey and Taylor Madison. We like movies and thought that it would be a swell idea to review some of the newer movies coming out, as well as an occasional review of a classic film from our childhood, or some BS like that.

We rate movies on a scale from 1-10. 10 obviously being the highest.

Enjoy.
